Class Descriptions

Session 1
June 20 to July 1

Marble Surface

Stellar Astronomy

The class will go over many topics around astronomy and give a basic over view of the many things in the science. Some topics discussed will be planets, black holes, quasars, and galaxies.

Grades: 6 - 8

Algebra 3 focuses on the continuation of study of Algebra and Trigonometry. Topics studied in this course include linear equations and inequalities, polynomials, factoring, rational expressions, trigonometric identities and functions: exponential, logarithmic, trigonometric, inverse trigonometric.

Algebra

Drawing and Painting

Painting and drawing will use one's imagination. to create vivid images of houses, people, and places. The class will focus on learning specific skills and artistic styles and then implementing them into the students personal projects and interests.

Short Story Writing

Writing short stories from start to finish including rising action, climax and conclusion using plot devices and elements.

All About Universe

This class will cover stars, galaxies, the Big Bang, black holes, and more

Biology

In this class, students will be exploring the nature of ecology and cells. This class's goal is to introduce students to the foundations of biology and to prepare them for 9th-grade biology. The level of difficulty is adjusted assuming everyone is a beginner, there is no need for worry, however, having middle school level knowledge of biology would be recommended.

Human Body - A Biomachine

This class aims to cover the different human body systems and the function of each. Each system will be covered in detail, going over the various organs and cells involved in each, and every class a new system will be introduced. The following systems will be covered: skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, circulatory, respiratory, digestive, and the urinary system.

Chemistry - An Uncovered Mystery

This class aims to cover an introduction to the subject of chemistry. Each topic will be covered in detail, going over the composition and structure of atoms, the organization of the Periodic Table, three types of chemical bonds, and chemical equations and formulas. Then, in the second week, an introduction to biochemistry will be tied in, covering topics such as amino acids, carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, nucleic acids, and hydrocarbons, and to bring it all together, fun Kahoots as well!

Spanish 1 - An Introduction to Spanish

This course is an introductory course to middle school Spanish. It will cover basic grammar and vocabulary.

This class will introduce the students to the basics of coding using block-based programming in order to visually see what they are making. A laptop is needed for class to open the Scratch website. No prior experience is required.

Public Speaking

Bollywood Dance

Instructor: Megha Basaralu

Grades: All

In my class, we will learn Bollywood pieces from a multitude of different songs. These pieces will be choreographed by me and we will thoroughly cover each step and produce a wonderful dance at the end. Additionally, we will have spurts of hip-hop and jazz included in the choreo, making it enjoyable for the young students. As a class, we will pick a song from a list I will make prior to the class. In totality, this will improve their dancing skills and teamwork.

French Introduction

Instructor: Megha Basaralu

Grades: 5+

For my French class, we will go over the basics of french and do fun popcorn exercises every class to learn new words from the French dictionary. Every once in a while, I will do speaking exercises that will help the students in their pronunciation. We will cover beginner topics like sentence starters, grammar, vocabulary, and I will be wholly open to all the questions they have. Students will learn the basics of French while having fun simultaneously.

Creative Writing

Instructor: Vyshnavi Nallandigal

Grades: 1 - 5

Children will learn about the basic structure of a creative story, which emcompasses characters, plot, and setting. They will learn how to write one which consistently engages readers throughout. This class will also be an opportunity for students to have fun with their creations, but the focus will be to develop their writing skills. We will also look at various examples of creative writing pieces (memoirs etc.).

Who Wants to be a Millionaire? — An Introduction to Finance

This class aims to cover an overview of personal finance and aspects of business. The first week of personal finance covers budgeting, saving, managing credit, investing, and paying for college, and the second week covers topics from the business model canvas, such as customer segments, value propositions, and revenue streams. Paired with a few fun Kahoots and other games, this class will leave you ready to be a millionaire!

Yoga in one hand is about general well being, breathing properly ( it is unbeknown to many of us that we often forget to breathe and hold our breath while we feeling tensed about a situation), but on another hand Yoga is also about feeling grounded and Centered. So, come & let’s join me for some gentle stretch & grounding exercise while having fun at the same time
